Overcome your writer's block

Hello my loves!

Are you doing well ?

Cause I am not really. I'm tired.

School isn't a game, actually.

Anyway, that's not the point.

Today you are entitled to the first article dedicated to you, my writers.

Writing is a long and laborious process that requires creativity, a vivid imagination, and talent. However, like any art, it can be learned. That's why in this article, I've prepared an exercise to stimulate your creativity.

Materials needed

For this exercise, you will need:

  • A sheet of paper

  • With a pen or pencil.

No keyboard please.

Explanation

On your piece of paper, write down the first thought that comes to mind.

Example: Why is she bothering me with her paper thing, I want to write on my phone.

The thought doesn't matter. It doesn't matter how absurd it may be. Write it down. No cheating. Don't try to make it aesthetic, poetic, or anything else. Write it down exactly as it is.

Then, add three sentences related to it.

Finally, rephrase as best you can and imagine the context, as if it were a scene from a novel.

Dialogue, monologue, internal or external point of view, first/second/third person narration – you choose.

Real example

1- Thought : I want to get my nails done but nail technicians are too expensive, like hello?!

2 - Related phrases : I can do them myself. I'm too lazy. Imagine I pay and the lady is incompetent.

3- Writing :

Laziness.

Laziness is the traitor that led me to this salon. I could have done my nails myself. I was perfectly capable. However, my laziness made me end up in this chair upholstered in old pink leather, facing this woman who's been filing my nails for almost half an hour, chewing her gum far too loudly. Although I'd bet my mani that it's lost all its flavor…

*********************************

For those who are still having trouble, you will find a non-exhaustive list of thoughts that crossed my mind during this day, which I have reformulated as prompts for you to use as you see fit.

Kim's brain be like:

  • Imagine a day in the life of one of your teachers/boss/superiors

  • You meet someone who knows you perfectly. How is that possible ?

  • You’re writing a story and the characters begin to change the text while you sleep.

  • Your real or fictional crush is always wearing gloves. Why? (Shoutout Vanitas babe)

  • What do you do if everyone has access to your thoughts?

Personally, I:

In short... Now it's your turn to write.

Trust yourself and take caaaaare !

In hopes this article has been helpful.

(Please leave some of your creations in the comments. I'd love to read them)

Kiss kiss, love love,

Kim.
